Junior Accountant

Job Purpose:

The overall task of the Accounting & Finance Intern is Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded. Updating accounts receivable and issue invoices. Updating accounts payable and perform reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned.
Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
Assist with other accounting projects.
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivables.
Handle tax reporting; handle bank clearing activities; handle month-end & year-end reports
Carry out any clerical activities related to finance and accounting.
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and recording.
Liaise with senior accountants to improve financial procedures.
Comply to any other assignments given by immediate supervisor and management.

Job Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, and competence required for the position

1st degree in accounting or Accounting and Finance
Experience is not mandatory but advantageous
Good communication skill

Accountant

Job Purpose:

Undertakes and coordinates preparation of book of accounts and cash operations; checks the correctness of payments effected; follows up and controls the timely collection and deposits of cash to the Company account; analyses and registers accounts for payments made by cheque and petty cash payments; prepares journal vouchers; controls the balance of cash and transitory accounts monthly and at the end of each budget year, follows up the timely settlement of government obligations, follows-up and controls collection and disbursement, check records related to debtors and creditors, follow up insurance cases.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertakes and coordinates preparation of book of accounts and cash operations;
Accomplishes the preparation of journal vouchers for all payments, sales and all collections.
Checks the correctness of payments effected and registers their account codes and accounts and then prepares journal voucher at end of the month.
Follows-up, and controls the timely collection and deposits of cash to the Company’s account which are obtained from the sale of farm products and other sources and prepares journal voucher at the end of the month.
Analyses registers account codes for petty cash, payments and prepares journal voucher.
Analyses, registers accounts with their titles for payments made by cheque and prepares the journal voucher.
Follows-up and controls the balance of cash and transitory accounts monthly and at the end of each budget year depending on the situation and prepares correction as necessary.
Follows-up and controls collection and payments of government obligations.
Guides and assists Junior Accountants in problem areas.
Compiles data for activity report preparation.
Prepares and submits activity reports of the unit
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, and competence required for the position

1st degree in accounting or Accounting and Finance
2 years relevant Experience
Ability to use Accounting Software
Good communication skill
