FriEL Ethiopia Farming and Processing plc is an Italian company that was established in 2007 according to the investment policy and proclamation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Company has received 10,000 hectares of land for agriculture development on a lease basis for seventy years. Currently, the company has developed around 3000 hectares of land. However, this time it has planned to work on further expansion on an additional 2000 hectares of land for cotton plantation with possible further expansion phase by phase. The project is located in the SNNP region at West Omo Zone at Dasenech Woreda. The farm is situated along the Riverside of Omo at about 870 km away from Addis Ababa, 370 km away from Arba Minch (North Omo Zone) & 210 km from Jinka(South Omo Zone).
Its initial farming land area spans 10,000 hectares of land adjacent to the river Omo aspiring to cover a minimum of 30,000 hectares in the near future. Currently, it is growing cotton and banana and trials of growing vegetables such as onion, bell paper, and tomato; fruits such as watermelon, papaya, and citrus; spices such as ginger as well as oil seeds such as soya bean and sunflower.
